Job summary

HDR is seeking an Industrial Water/Wastewater Engineer to lead mid-size projects, supervise staff, and deliver high-quality design packages for water and wastewater facilities. The role emphasizes independent work, teamwork, and strong client communication.

The candidate should have a civil engineering degree, a PE or equivalent license, and several years of relevant design experience. This is a full-time, on-site position in the United States with an employee-owned culture at HDR.

In the role of Industrial Water/Wastewater Engineer, we’ll count on you to:

• Take responsibility for performing complex assignments, exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
• Function as a technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects as needed
• Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
• Perform other duties as needed
• Demonstrate ability to solve complex problems both independently and collaboratively within a team environment, with a strong focus on effective communication, reporting, and execution
• Provide exceptional integrity, discretion, and professionalism, consistently producing well-vetted, high-quality written and verbal deliverables for a distinguished client base

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
• Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
• Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (e.g., PE or P.Eng license)
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to complete tasks
