Position Description: Control, monitor, and maintain the equipment and treatment processes in an industrial wastewater treatment plant. Remove or neutralize the chemicals, solid materials, and organisms in wastewater so that the water is not polluted when it is returned to the environment. Take samples and monitor treatment to ensure treated water is safe for its intended use.

Specific Duties:

  • Operates and maintains industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Comprehends and complies with all safety requirements.
  • Follows procedures regarding cleaning, equipment uses, maintenance, calibration, and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Collects samples and conducts the in-plant tests necessary to control and monitor treatment facility processes and operation.
  • Performs in-plant operational control tests and process calculations, using various analytical instruments and mathematical calculations.
  • Records in-plant test results, various meter readings, gauge reading, flow quantities and other technical data.
  • Performs in-plant maintenance according to the schedules and procedures established for the facilities to which assigned. This includes cleaning, servicing, lubricating, and repairing pumps, chemical feed equipment, and other mechanical devices regularly found in water, wastewater and industrial wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Manages chemical inventory including scheduling deliveries and tracking usage.
  • Assists in the preparation for and responding to PA DEP permitting inspections.
  • Analyzes multiple daily grab samples of wastewater process effluent per shift, in addition to coordinating the monthly composite sample for analysis.
  • Coordinates site removal of WWTP filter press sludge with the designated waste management company
  • Supports 5S activities for the WWTP building and surrounding area.
  • Troubleshoot problems and abnormalities in the waste stream and treatment process.
  • Possess good working knowledge of physical, chemical, and biological treatment processes in the application of aerobic digestion.

  • Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with sampling and preservation techniques for physical/chemical wastewater analyses.
  • Strong analytical and computational abilities.
  • Demonstrates initiative and conducts work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work in a team environment and independently.
  • Demonstrates excellent communications skills, both verbal and in technical writing.
