Job description

Industrial Wastewater Operations Supervisor

Take the lead at two modern, stable industrial wastewater treatment facilities in Colorado's mountain region. We are seeking an experienced Industrial Wastewater Operations Supervisor to serve as the Operator in Responsible Charge and oversee operations across facilities near Winter Park and Rollinsville. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for a certified wastewater professional who enjoys combining technical problem-solving, regulatory compliance, process optimization, and team development.

The supervisor will lead four wastewater operators while maintaining responsibility for plant performance, permit compliance, preventive maintenance oversight, and continuous improvement.

A current Colorado Class B or Class A Industrial Wastewater Treatment certificate is required. Municipal or domestic wastewater certification alone does not meet the licensing requirement for this position.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as Operator in Responsible Charge for two industrial wastewater treatment facilities
  • Lead, coach, and develop four wastewater operators across two locations
  • Ensure compliance with operating permits and applicable local, state, and federal requirements
  • Monitor plant performance and implement process improvements
  • Oversee preventive maintenance activities and coordinate major repairs with outside contractors
  • Support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations
  • Review operational data, reports, KPIs, and compliance documentation
  • Troubleshoot treatment, mechanical, piping, pump, flow, and process-control issues
  • Guide employee training, performance development, and daily work priorities
  • Maintain accurate operational and regulatory records
  • Work closely with site leadership to support long‑term plant reliability and client satisfaction
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to serve as Operator in Responsible Charge
  • At least six years of water or wastewater treatment, industrial operations, or closely related experience
  • At least three years of supervisory, lead, or team‑leadership experience
  • Knowledge of industrial wastewater operations, fluid flow, pumps, piping, process equipment, and control instrumentation
  • Experience supporting permit compliance and regulatory requirements
  • Ability to guide employees in safety, quality, and operational procedures
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and plant data or SCADA systems
  • Valid driver’s license without major infractions
  • Ability reliably travel between both Colorado mountain facilities
  • Willingness to work onsite approximately four days per week
Highly Preferred
  • Direct industrial wastewater treatment experience
  • Previous ORC responsibility
  • Ultrafiltration or other membrane‑treatment experience
  • Preventive maintenance and contractor‑management experience
  • Process optimization and troubleshooting experience
Schedule and Location
  • Approximately three onsite days per week in Winter Park
  • Approximately one onsite day per week near Rollinsville/Tolland
  • One remote workday per week
  • Primarily daytime hours
  • Flexible five‑day schedule, with the option to work weekend days when needed
  • Approximately 10% travel
  • Candidates should live within reasonable commuting distance of the facilities or be willing to relocate
Compensation and Support
  • $100,000-$130,000 annual salary
  • Direct-hire employment
  • Company‑provided Ford Maverick
  • Paid fuel and vehicle maintenance
  • Company‑provided laptop and cellphone
  • PPE, tools, lodging, meals, and approved travel expenses provided as applicable

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industrial wastewater professional to step into a highly visible leadership role with strong compensation, schedule flexibility, modern facilities, and the resources needed to operate successfully.
