Job summary

SunCoke Energy in Vansant, VA is hiring a production operator to run a production unit and maximize output while meeting safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. You will operate equipment such as trains, utility cars, and PCM's and assist Burners in monitoring oven performance.

Responsibilities include general housekeeping, basic maintenance support, following work orders and policies, and being ready for overtime, weekend and holiday shifts.

Qualifications

• Good communication and computer skills.
• Experience in heavy industrial plant using compressed air, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Be willing to work float schedule, overtime, weekends and holidays, as required.
• Good safety and attendance records in previous jobs held.
• Ability to work in hot and cold temperature extremes.
• Good vision and manual dexterity.
• Understand the importance of the position with regard to cost and product quality.

Responsibilities

• Operate production unit to maximize productivity while meeting safety/health, environmental and quality requirements.
• Operate production equipment such as Trains, Utility Cars, and PCM's.
• Assist Burners in monitoring oven performance.
• Light equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Provide maintenance assistance including PMs, inspections and repairs as necessary.
• General housekeeping and cleanup around work areas.
• Operate mobile equipment (trucks, heavy equipment, dozers, loaders, forklifts etc.).
• Follow work orders and policies and complete assigned duties.
