The Instructor’s primary role is to teach in their areas ofexpertise, maintain the integrity of course and instructionalprograms, and to ensure that their delivery is in alignment withthe University mission and vision for the student experience.As such, faculty are responsible for creating an academicatmosphere of mutual respect and consideration for individualdignity. Faculty members may be asked to aid in thedevelopment of curriculum in the residential and distanceeducation environments, as well as engage inresearch/scholarship or creative activity that varies dependingupon the expectations of their respective college or schooland any additional activities involving service to students andtheir professional discipline.
Faculty attain the rank of Instructor based upon scholarly andprofessional achievements. An earned master’s degree at anaccredited institution in an area relevant to the facultymember’s area of teaching; at least 18 hours of graduate credit inthe specific teaching field is required. This is the initial rankfor faculty in, but not having completed, doctoral programs, andthose with master’s degrees considered terminal and withoutteaching experience.
Instructors are contracted for 10, 11, or 12 months (30, 33, or 36load hours, respectively). Release from contracted teaching loadis determined each semester by the Dean, per Liberty UniversityFaculty Handbook.

The actual compensation offered to the selected candidatemay vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which mayinclude the successful candidate's rank, contract length, skills,work experience, internal equity, market conditions,education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined bythe University. The position may also be eligible for comprehensivebenefits , including health insurance, retirement plans, andtuition assistance.
