Job summary

The Taylor Sudden Service division in La Vergne, TN seeks a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, repair, and maintain diesel engines and hydraulic systems on lift trucks and equipment. You will read blueprints, use diagnostic tools, and perform preventative maintenance to keep our fleet in top condition.

The ideal candidate has vocational training in hydraulics and diesel repair, at least three years of on-the-job experience, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.

Responsibilities

• Inspect lift trucks and equipment to determine repairs.
• Perform repairs on gasoline, diesel, and propane engines with minimal instruction.
• Inspect, adjust, and repair components as needed.
• Repair cooling, fuel, electrical, and exhaust systems using diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance to improve fleet condition and performance.
• Operate equipment to troubleshoot and test equipment as needed.
• Maintain records of maintenance performed.
• Assist parts department in shipping and receiving of motor freight.
• Take service calls and provide assistance when the Service Manager is unavailable.
• Clean and maintain garage area as needed.
• Other related duties as required.

Qualifications: Required Skills/Abilities

• This job requires stooping, bending, climbing, and the capability of lifting 50 pounds.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical material.

Education and Experience

• Some vocational or formal schooling in hydraulics and diesel engine repair.
• Three years on the job experience in diesel mechanics and hydraulics. Schooling in these fields could substitute for some of the job experience.
• While it is not a requirement that the FSM pass the AWSD14 Welding Test, the incumbent is required to pass the tacker test. The FSM is encouraged to practice and improve welding skills to pass the AWSD14 Welding Test to be considered for future promotions.
