Job description

Industrial Service Technician Apprentice are responsible for the delivery of equipment and assisting in all aspects of installations. This includes learning fabrication, welding, hydraulics, electrical work, and troubleshooting of compactors, balers, and augers. The position requires moderate to extreme physical exertion, including prolonged standing, bending, kneeling, squatting, and working in awkward positions.

Responsibilities of the Position:

• Load, secure, and deliver compactors, balers, and augers using roll-off trucks, rollback trucks, and trailers.
• Assist in sanding, grinding, cutting, welding, and other fabrication or repair work on company containers and equipment, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
• Perform grinding after welding and weld steel using MIG and arc welding equipment.
• Fabricate steel components for compactors and maintain a clean, safe work area following OSHA standards.
• Complete paperwork using computer systems and utilize standard shop tools and measuring devices.
• Install lids and wheels on containers and paint repaired or new compactors.
• Interact professionally with internal and external customers and assist in other shop projects as needed.
• Maintain a positive work environment and promote good relationships with all stakeholders.

Skills & Abilities Needed:

• Basic welding, cutting, and electrical knowledge.
• Experience with small shop tools, MIG/ARC/stick welding, plasma cutting.
• Ability to operate a forklift safely and familiarity with roll-off truck and trailer operations.
• Effective communication skills and computer literacy.

Physical Requirements:

• Lift up to 35 lbs continuously; up to 75 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs often.
• Push/pull up to 75 lbs frequently.
• Perform stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing regularly.
• Work outdoors in dusty, odorous, and airborne environments.

Additional Conditions:

• Valid Class B CDL and DOT Medical Card.
• Minimum age 19; no recent DUI/OVI; limited moving violations.
• Must be able to travel, work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
• Legally eligible to work in the U.S. and pass pre-employment testing.
