Job summary

JBS Prepared Foods in Moberly, MO is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, HVAC and supporting equipment. The role requires performing preventive maintenance, daily rounds, and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.

You will work 12-hour shifts, be on-call, and collaborate with maintenance teams and outside vendors. Strong reading and writing in English with a safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years in refrigeration or boiler room preferred.
• Operator 1 and Operator 2 preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of industrial maintenance and electrical functions.
• Able to read and write in English.
• Able to manage time and prioritize work.
• Able to use a computer for engine room tasks and email.
• Able to be SCBA certified for Haz-Mat.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and complete work orders and preventive maintenance paperwork in a timely manner.
• Maintain a log book of all breakdowns and corrective actions taken.
• Complete daily rounds on all equipment; weekends and holidays, 365 days a year.
• Schedule shutdowns of equipment for repairs without disrupting production.
• Troubleshoot equipment mechanically and electrically.
• Utilize time effectively to minimize downtime and repairs.
• Follow lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures for all equipment.
• Be a team player and ask for guidance when needed.
• Be on call and able to work alone if required.
• Receive and follow training on LOTO, fall protection, confined space, hot work, and other safety training.
• Order materials and parts for stock or repairs.
• Maintain clean mechanical rooms at all times.
• Work with outside vendors and technicians professionally.
• Assist maintenance technicians with troubleshooting and repairs.
