Industrial Refrigeration Technician role based in Maryland; full-time position requiring hands-on installation, service and repair of large-scale refrigeration systems and equipment. The job entails reading blueprints, performing preventive maintenance, and ensuring safe operation of complex cooling infrastructure.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma with technical college training, EPA Universal certification, and 10+ years of refrigeration experience, including cascaded systems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, service, troubleshoot and repair refrigeration systems and equipment such as condensing units, compressors, evaporators, walk-in freezers, coolers, dehumidification systems, RTUs, chillers and other industrial refrigeration equipment.
• Charge system with proper type of refrigerant according to specification.
• Connect refrigeration lines, electrical power sources, handle hazardous refrigerants, check systems and equipment for leaks.
• Use system blueprints or manufacturers' instructions to complete a job.
• Perform preventative maintenance in order to avoid future problems or breakdowns.
• Observe and test system operation and performance using gauges and instruments.
• Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts and reassemble repaired systems.
• Braze or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks.
• Install expansion and control valves, using acetylene torches and wrenches.
• Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming.
• Work with various types of pumps such as vacuum pumps, circulation pumps, and oil pumps
• Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specific locations on frames, using hand tools and acetylene welding equipment.

Education/Experience Requirements

• High School/GED + Technical College
• EPA Universal (Type 1, 2, & 3) Certification
• 10+ years of experience in various refrigeration systems
• At least a year of experience in cascaded refrigeration systems

Technical Responsibilities

• Keep records of refrigerants, repairs and replacements made and causes of malfunctions.
• Think creatively - developing, designing, or creating new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products.
• Willingness to learn quickly about the various equipment
• You would work around 40 hours a week and may work overtime
• Available to work on-call 24/7 for emergencies as
• Wear protective gear, safety goggles, safety boots, etc when performing mechanical tasks
• Valid Driver's License
