Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Refrigeration/Boiler Technician to join our maintenance team in Wisconsin. You will support high pressure boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration, and associated equipment, ensuring reliable operation and safety.

The role requires strong troubleshooting skills, a trades background, and RETA certification preferred. Competitive hourly wages and benefits accompany this full-time position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and formal trades training or equivalent maintenance experience.
• Two years of industrial maintenance experience with several target systems.
• RETA Certification required or preferred.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration, engines/boilers, and controls.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and perform preventive maintenance.
• Preference for candidates with mechanical/electrical/industrial maintenance coursework.

Responsibilities

• Perform refrigeration/boiler maintenance and repairs on shift.
• Conduct routine audits and equipment inspections.
• Plan and execute maintenance activities and repairs with operations.
• Troubleshoot equipment and coordinate with team for efficiency.
• Follow food safety and good manufacturing practices (GMP).
• Respond to unplanned maintenance requests promptly.
