Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting and Midwest Aerospace Casting, LLC. is seeking an experienced x-ray film evaluator to interpret and disposition castings according to standard procedures.

You will calibrate equipment, review films, and identify porosity, cracks, lack of fusion and inclusions. The role requires following CM procedures M13 & SP400, organizing results, documenting readings, and ensuring compliance with customer requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must read and interpret x-ray film to determine imperfections such as porosity, cracks and inclusions.
  • Ability to calibrate equipment and follow standard testing procedures.
  • Good documentation and communication skills to report results.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and proper reporting of processed quantities.
  • Wear safety equipment and keep the work area clean and safe at all times.
  • Understand customer requirements and internal scrap challenges, rework and returns.
  • Review and inspect all material used, build self-inspection into every process.
  • Complete, date and sign-off on routing information and logs.
  • Perform tasks efficiently according to approved standards and CM procedures M13 & SP400.
  • X-ray castings using approved techniques and obtain Level 1/2 approval and sign-off.
  • Organize and file x-ray results for interpretation in reading room.
  • Perform and verify calibrations, learn rework to remove flash and defects.
  • Serialize parts per CM procedure and maintain log books.
  • Clean film processor and cassettes per maintenance procedures.

Ability to determine possible imperfections, cracks, porosity, lack of fusion and inclusions from film review. Capable of establishing techniques and procedures and interpreting codes, standards and specifications.

Responsibilities
  • Accurate scanning in and out on jobs and the proper reporting of processed quantities.

  • Understand customer requirements, our companies internal scrap challenges, rework, customer returns, the impact they have on your job and demonstrate ability to deliver quality & efficient workmanship.
  • Review & inspect all material being used, building self-inspection into everything you make/process.
  • Complete, date and sign-off on all routing information.
  • Perform job tasks in an efficient manner according to given standards.
  • Learn CM procedures M13 & SP400, traveler process, scanning and demonstrate competency to perform.
  • Learn all procedures and specifications needed to properly x-ray and evaluate castings per customer requirements using approved techniques to verify compliance.
  • X-Ray castings to approved techniques; Must have Level 1 / 2 approval and sign-off on all x-ray shots.
  • Organize, document x-ray results, label and file for interpretation in the reading room.
  • Perform and verify calibrations, learn rework to remove flash, sand, metal, defects or other debris from castings.
  • Serialize parts per CM procedure and route ticket and log book instructions.
  • Clean film processor, cassettes and work area according to maintenance procedure. Log information on required checklists.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
