Job Responsibilities
- Supervise construction-related activities for industrial construction projects.
- Provide input for the annual building maintenance budget.
- Supervise special projects and capital expenditure projects involving industrial construction, as requested by warehousing, distribution, manufacturing, and support facilities.
- Oversee miscellaneous maintenance and repairs of buildings, parking lots, grounds, docks, roofing, doors, elevators, floors, lighting, CSX railroad, water towers (potable and fire), refrigeration, and utility systems (electrical, plumbing, gas, utilities, etc.).
- Select new contractors or vendors.
- Perform various tasks such as creating budgets, processing and maintaining records, and monitoring key performance indicators.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of industrial and commercial construction experience.
- Certificates required for ADA (American Disability Act) and Hazwoper (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response), which will be provided by Publix; incumbent will obtain these certifications upon hiring.
- Knowledge of industrial construction including HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and roofing systems.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Office 2000, Windows.
- Knowledge of regional building codes and regulatory agency requirements.
- Understanding of warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing operations.
- Attention to detail, proactive approach, technical skills, strong communication and listening skills, organizational skills.
- Ability to evaluate costs and estimates, manage time effectively, solve problems, tolerate stress, and adapt to changing situations.
- Comfort in addressing large groups.
- Willingness to work long hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and being on call 24/7.
- Willingness to travel overnight, climb, and work in high places.
- Willingness to attend seminars, conferences, and classes both on and off-site.
- Desire to learn about warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing operations.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, pride in work, and commitment to Publix’s mission.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Minimum of 10 years industrial and commercial construction experience.
- Contractor’s License: General Contractors or Building Contractors License.
- Continuing education with the CILB (Construction Industry Licensing Board).
- Knowledge of Publix’s vision, mission statement, policies, and guidelines.
