Job Description

CDM Smith seeks a Project Manager focused on geotechnical investigations for electrical transmission projects in the northeast region. This role can be based at any CDM Smith office location. Responsibilities include:

  1. Planning and coordinating geotechnical investigations as per client scope.
  2. Conducting regular planning calls with clients and various departments.
  3. Communicating project progress to field staff and clients.
  4. Resource management, including procurement and vendor coordination.
  5. Developing and ensuring adherence to health and safety plans.
  6. Coaching staff and managing performance issues.
  7. Building and maintaining client relationships.
  8. Creating project definitions, schedules, budgets, and objectives.
  9. Assessing risks and outlining mitigation strategies.
  10. Managing project costs, profitability, and client payments.
  11. Handling project changes through formal protocols.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 7 years of related experience.
  • PMP, CCM, or DBIA certification (within 12 months of hire).
  • Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in geotechnical investigations and power transmission projects.
  • Leadership skills for team management and client reporting.
  • Professional Engineer or Geologist license preferred.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
