Job summary

Hutton is seeking a Project Manager to lead industrial projects from design through completion in Wichita. You will coordinate teams, manage budgets, procure materials, and ensure subcontractors deliver high-quality work, aligning every detail with the bigger vision.

You will drive schedules, uphold OSHA and company safety standards, and maintain clear communication with clients, superintendents, and design partners. This role emphasizes proactive problem solving and rigorous project control.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction science, business administration, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience as a project manager or superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning & execution from preconstruction through completion.
  • Drive budget & cost control with real-time tracking and transparent stakeholder updates.
  • Coordinate with clients, superintendents, subcontractors, estimators, and design teams.
  • Manage procurement & materials from submittal to fabrication using company software.
  • Ensure safety & quality by upholding OSHA and Hutton standards and coordinating shutdowns.
  • Oversee documentation & closeout including pay applications and project status reports.

Job description

As a**Project Manager**, youll do more than keep projects on trackyoull help bring visions to life. From design through completion, you'll play a key role in coordinating teams, managing budgets, procuring materials, and ensuring subcontractors deliver top-quality work. You'll be the driving force behind schedules, safety, and standards, making sure every detail aligns with the bigger picture.

You will be working with Huttons Industrial team, delivering manufacturing plants, processing expansions, utility infrastructure, structural concrete foundations, steel, equipment installations, and high-performance production environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Lead Project Planning & Execution:**Anticipate project needs and create and communicate budget and pathway for the team to achieve the clients vision. Own the success of the project from preconstruction through completion.[MR1]
  • **Drive Budget & Cost Control:**Maintain precise project budgets, track changes in real time, complete projections, transparently communicate to stakeholders, and ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • **Coordinate with Stakeholders:**Serve as the primary contact for clients and lead OAC (Owner-Architect-Contractor) meetings; collaborating respectfully with superintendents, subcontractors, estimators, and the design team to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • **Manage Procurement & Materials:**Oversee bidding, subcontractor procurement, and material tracking from submittal to fabrication using company software.
  • **Ensure Safety & Quality:**Uphold OSHA and Hutton safety standards, Coordinate shutdown windows and tie-ins, proactively resolve issues, and lead site planning meetings and project reviews.
  • **Oversee Documentation & Closeout:**Produce timely pay applications, communicate project status with leadership, and manage all closeout procedures to ensure successful completion.
Requirements
**Education and Experience:**
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelors degree in construction management, construction science, business administration, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience managing heavy industrial or process facility projects preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of experience working as a project manager or superintendent required.
**Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
  • OSHA 10- and 30-hour certification; working knowledge of OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Understanding of industrial systems: PFDs, P&IDs, utility infrastructure, equipment layouts, and structural/civil integration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly convey instructions and expectations.
  • Team-oriented, with effective problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and professionalism.
**Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**
  • Experience with construction scheduling software (ASTA, Primavera, or equivalent) and estimating software (Timberline, Beck, or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with PDF tools (Bluebeam, Adobe, or equivalent); working knowledge of building codes, inspections, site logistics, and scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and build strong relationships with team members, owners, and project partners.

  • You will work mainly within an office environment with regular opportunities for site visits and onsite opportunities.
