Job summary

GSM Industrial is seeking an Experienced Project Designer to join our engineering and fabrication team in the Lancaster area. The role focuses on designing and detailing custom industrial projects, including structural steel, sheet metal, ductwork, and pipe layouts, with strong shop drawing output.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of related mechanical, structural, industrial or fabrication design experience.
• Experience with 2D and 3D modeling and shop drawings.
• Strong understanding of fabrication practices and dimensional tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed 2D and 3D designs for industrial systems using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or Tekla.
• Produce clear shop drawings, GA drawings, and fabrication details for structural steel, sheet metal, plate, ductwork and piping.
• Create accurate cut lists, material takeoffs, and requisition documents.
• Review, interpret, and refine drawings to GSM Industrial standards.
• Conduct site visits and field measurements to support design development.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and fabrication staff to ensure constructability and deadlines.
• Provide ongoing technical support to stakeholders throughout fabrication and installation.
• Participate in project kickoff meetings to understand scope and customer requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of design procedures and drafting workflows.
