Job description

The Industrial Project Architect will partner with project managers to lead the planning, design, documentation, and construction administration of multiple building types across markets such as Water, Resource, Federal, and Building Engineering. The role focuses on industrial-type facilities—including data centers, water treatment plants, advanced manufacturing plants, and operations centers—and requires the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams through all phases of a project.

Responsibilities
  • Be knowledgeable in technical design concepts, code applications, design management skills, digital technologies, and design workflows for industrial-type facilities.
  • Lead owner/client and internal meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
  • Lead project teams with varied levels of experience to successfully complete and deliver construction documents and intermediate milestone deliverables.
  • Manage and undertake design activities and the production of detailed documents required for construction.
  • Independently coordinate the work of a multidisciplinary team through all phases of a project.
  • Review architectural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines.
  • Perform QA/QC and cross‑discipline technical reviews.
  • Write and edit architectural specifications.
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders.
  • Incorporate agreed‑upon changes into project documents.
  • Provide construction observation and contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct work sessions at project site in conjunction with Client Representatives, Project Managers and other disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant prior experience in industrial architecture (e.g., data centers, water treatment facilities, public utility facilities, operations centers, aerospace, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a licensed professional
  • Experience with Bluebeam Revu
  • LEED Accreditation with experience and/or interest in sustainable design
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring junior staff
  • Experience facilitating meetings with a range of stakeholders such as engineers, client, contractors, subcontractors, AHJs, etc.
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to client contract requirements.
  • LIBC1 certification
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a closely related field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project Schedule)
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Proficient in the use of Autodesk Revit and familiarity with related tools and processes
  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills
  • Must have experience in preparation and layout of architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Strong knowledge of codes and good planning skills

Compensation range depends on skills, experience, education and location: Minnesota: $95,330 – $136,185; Illinois: $99,869 – $142,670; Colorado: $99,869 – $142,670.
