Job summary

Epstein is seeking an Industrial Process Equipment Project Manager to join our growing team in Chicago. This role coordinates complex equipment packages across engineering and construction, managing vendors and critical project schedules from design through commissioning.

You will work within Epstein’s integrated AEC team to ensure procurement, approvals, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning stay aligned with schedules, budgets, and quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Experience coordinating process equipment procurement, engineering deliverables, vendor activities, and construction projects.
  • Strong PM, scheduling, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling, reporting, and document-management tools.

Overview

The Industrial Process Equipment Project Manager works on industrial and advanced manufacturing projects as part of Epstein’s fully integrated architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) team. This position serves as the primary liaison between Industrial Process Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and process equipment suppliers.

The Industrial Process Equipment Project Manager is responsible for understanding industrial process design and equipment functions and coordinating process equipment activities throughout the project lifecycle, including procurement, engineering approvals, vendor activities, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning.

This individual will ensure process equipment-related activities remain aligned with project schedules, quality requirements, budget expectations, construction readiness, and installation and commissioning milestones.

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Industrial Process Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and process equipment suppliers, ensuring alignment throughout project execution.
  • Manage process equipment procurement and approval schedules from design and bidding through engineering release, fabrication, delivery, installation, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with process equipment vendors and suppliers, track engineering approvals and fabrication progress, and monitor supplier performance to support on-time delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional project meetings and maintain visibility into process equipment status, risks, action items, and critical milestones.
  • Track process equipment submittals, approval drawings, technical documentation, and engineering review timelines to proactively identify and prevent potential project delays.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project schedules that align engineering, procurement, equipment fabrication, delivery, construction, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with equipment lead times, vendor selection, technical approvals, fabrication progress, and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate process equipment deliveries with site and construction readiness to support efficient installation and commissioning.
  • Develop project dashboards, key performance indicators, and status reports that clearly communicate schedule, procurement, vendor, and overall execution performance.
  • Facilitate the timely resolution of process equipment-related issues by coordinating with Engineering, Procurement, Construction, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project records, including equipment status updates, approval logs, delivery schedules, meeting minutes, and action-item tracking.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project execution processes, workflows, reporting methods, and communication across Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience coordinating process equipment procurement, engineering deliverables, vendor activities, and/or construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of engineering, procurement, construction, equipment installation, and commissioning processes.
  • Strong project management, scheduling, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, deadlines, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with project scheduling, reporting, and document-management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret process equipment submittals, approval drawings, technical documentation, and project schedules.

Individual compensation is determined by several factors, including education, experience, training, qualifications, skill sets, licensure/certifications, and location. Employees are also eligible for discretionary annual bonuses based on both company and individual performance.

The salary range for this position is $125,000–$155,000 annually.
