Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3-7 years of industrial engineering, material flow, logistics, or manufacturing process experience.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with material flow optimization and production systems.
  • Capacity analysis, bottleneck analysis, and cycle-time study experience.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate transportation methods, routing concepts, storage requirements, and material staging approaches.
  • Conduct capacity analysis, cycle time studies, bottleneck analysis, and labor utilization evaluations.
  • Optimize space utilization and inventory flow throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Support creation of standard work for manual and automated material handling processes.
  • Develop scalable best practices supporting AGV deployment across multiple GM facilities.
  • Establish process standards, KPIs, operational metrics, and deployment methodologies.
  • Partner with manufacturing and logistics teams to ensure sustainable implementation.
  • Analyze operational performance data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical tools supporting decision making.
  • Utilize SharePoint, reporting systems, and manufacturing analytics tools to support deployment initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance on AGV, AMR, robotics, conveyor, and automation integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with controls, commissioning, logistics, warehouse, and manufacturing organizations.
  • Support continuous improvement programs aligned with Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 initiatives.

Industrial Process Engineer – Material Flow & Autonomous Operations
Position Summary

The Industrial Process Engineer will drive the development, standardization, and optimization of autonomous material flow strategies supporting enterprise-wide AGV and AMR deployment initiatives. This role will be responsible for designing scalable material delivery processes, optimizing warehouse and line-side replenishment systems, and developing best practices that can be deployed consistently across multiple manufacturing facilities. The successful candidate will blend industrial engineering principles with automation strategy to support the future of autonomous

manufacturing logistics.

Key Responsibilities
Material Flow Engineering
  • Develop and optimize material flow processes supporting AGV and AMR operations.
  • Design line-side delivery, warehouse replenishment, and inventory movement strategies.
  • Evaluate transportation methods, routing concepts, storage requirements, and material staging approaches.
Process Optimization
  • Conduct capacity analysis, cycle time studies, bottleneck analysis, and labor utilization evaluations.
  • Optimize space utilization and inventory flow throughout manufacturing operations.

Enterprise Standards Development

Required Qualifications

  • Digital Twin or simulation platform experience.
  • Automotive manufacturing experience.

Experience supporting enterprise standards or Center of Excellence organizations

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Warren, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $44.00/hr.
