Job summary

Microboard is seeking an Industrial Process Engineer I to support engineering leadership and documentation for production and New Product Introductions. The role focuses on developing and standardizing production forms, BOM comparisons, and process documentation while partnering with process engineers and the documentation team.

You will help estimate quotes, track priorities, lead pre- and post-build reviews, and provide technical solutions to defects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
  • Strong mathematical and physics calculation abilities.
  • Experience in project planning and drafting.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to devise technical solutions.
  • Ability to coordinate with team members.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update production forms and BOM comparisons using VBA.
  • Track engineering priorities and monitor changes with leadership review.
  • Lead NPI process including log, build type, pre- and post-build reviews.
  • Support cost modeling and component placement for new quotes.
  • Provide production support and investigate defects and issues.
  • Assist BOM scrubs and component reviews; document control needs.
  • Represent engineering on PWI and VSM document controls.

Job description

Summary

The Industrial Process Engineer I works under the supervision of the Engineering leader, process engineers and the Documentation staff. This individual will provide an engineering focus on all production documentation with particular focus on New Product Introductions.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Learns Provide Visual Basic (VBA) to updated to standard production forms such as: Production Schedule 2.0, Tech Review Forms and BOM Comparisons.
  • Responsible for initiating the engineering priorities sheet based on schedule changes and tracking changes to priorities and has work checked by engineering leaders.
  • Provide the initial documentation and process for New Product Introductions. This includes completing the NPI log and determining the build type, scheduling and leading the team for a pre-build review and after build reviews.
  • Learns and understands the process to initial estimate for new quotes including process and placement of components. Provide a deeper dive focused on the cost model as requested.
  • Provide production support including supporting new products, recommending changes to process, supporting MCN’s as required. Review defects and perform issue research on unexpected outcomes.
  • Provide initial engineering support on BOM scrubs and component reviews. Research component issues including backup/research on old part approvals.
  • Represent engineering on initial document control needs for PWI’s and VSM’s.
Qualifications
  • Able to successfully perform mathematical and physics calculations
  • Project planning and drafting skills are essential
  • Project management is a plus
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to devise technical and creative solutions to a variety of issues that may arise to prevent delays and keep projects moving
  • Team coordination with other team member is essential.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Proficiency with working knowledge of Microboard’s Shop Floor Tracking System (Aegis) software is preferred.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Knowledge of component identification is required.
  • Individuals must pass the Component ID and IPC-A-610 Solder Inspection Trainings.
Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
