Job description

Join to apply for the Industrial Plumber - Pipe Fitter role at Lockheed Martin.

This occupation requires the installation, repair, and maintenance of plant plumbing systems, fittings, accessories, and fixtures (including sanitary, steam, various gas, air, Fire Protection systems, hydraulics, water, etc.) and various gas and oil direct-fired production and heating equipment.

Responsibilities include determining routing of pipe, sequence of operations, and location of plumbing lines, fixtures, and equipment. The role involves following trade practices, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and applicable standards and ordinances. It requires calculating the kind, size, and amount of pipe and materials needed.

The technician marks lines and points on surfaces or sets stakes to locate pipe routes, fixtures, and equipment, preparing sketches as needed. Installing, connecting, and testing plumbing fixtures and systems, troubleshooting breakdowns, and repairing or replacing faulty parts are key duties.

The role also involves servicing and maintaining gas equipment, installing and maintaining steam line insulation, overhauling gas and oil-fired equipment, and performing heating, cutting, and welding (without high-pressure certification unless qualified). A valid license or certification may be required, along with current compliance with company certifications.

Minimum experience includes three years in industrial plumbing, heavy commercial pipe, or steam fitting, with the ability to interpret detailed drawings and schematics. Residential plumbing experience does not meet this requirement. A master plumber's license or certification may be necessary.
