Job summary

Saint-Gobain Ceramics Division is seeking a Plant Operator for industrial operations on a rotating 12-hour shift (7am-7pm) in Amherst, NY. The role involves operating a broad range of processing equipment and ensuring product quality through manufacturing, inspection, and packaging tasks.

Applicants should have a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and strong communication abilities. Forklift certification and prior manufacturing experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic computer skills are required.
• Strong communication skills are needed for interacting with co-workers, plant staff, and management.
• Basic math, reading, writing, and mechanical skills are expected.
• Previous forklift truck certification preferred.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate a wide range of equipment including mixing, dryers, milling and crushing equipment, kilns, vacuum hot presses, furnaces, and powder processing equipment.
• Ensure quality and service by manufacturing, inspecting, and packaging products to meet standards.
• Work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, with overtime opportunities.
• Read, understand, and execute work orders.
• Operate a forklift (training provided).
• Learn and perform duties independently and safely.
• Communicate effectively with shift personnel and support all manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrate knowledge of materials, production processes, and quality standards.
