Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking an experienced Plant Electrician for a direct hire opportunity in Elgin, IL. This position supports production and utility equipment through electrical troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs.

The ideal candidate has strong industrial electrical experience with PLCs, AC/DC drives, electrical schematics, and automated manufacturing equipment. A High School diploma or GED and PLC certification are required.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting PLCs and AC/DC drives.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience.
• Experience using electrical meters, hand tools, and power tools.
• Ability to work safely around automated production equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues on production and utility equipment.
• Diagnose PLC-controlled equipment and AC/DC drive systems.
• Perform scheduled, preventive, and emergency maintenance.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and work orders.
• Use electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems as needed.
• Support production line systems including lubrication, resin delivery, and other process equipment.
• Complete PM inspections and document repairs accurately in CMMS.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and help minimize production downtime.
• Communicate equipment conditions and repair status with Maintenance and Production teams.
• Track parts usage and communicate inventory needs.
• Follow OSHA, LOTO, SOP, sanitation, and plant safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and safe maintenance work area.

Responsibilities
