Job summary

Crowder Construction Co. in Durham, NC seeks a skilled pipefitter with industrial construction experience to lay out, fabricate, install and maintain piping systems for steam, hot water, heating and processing facilities.

Primary duties include selecting pipe sizes, reading blueprints, and ensuring safe, efficient installations. The role requires performing at heights, using pipe machines, and collaborating with craft workers on multi-state projects.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of verifiable experience as a pipe fitter in industrial construction.
• Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
• Comfort working at heights and in physically demanding environments.
• Must pass drug test and legally eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Selects type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications.
• Inspect work sites to determine obstructions and ensure holes will not cause structural weakness.
• Plan sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workers.
• Cut pipe using saws, torches, and/or a pipe machine.
• Thread pipe using threading machine.
• Bend pipe using a pipe bending machine.
• Assemble and install pipe fittings, including brass, copper, lead, carbon, stainless steel, and plastic.
• Join pipe through threading, soldering, and preparing pipe for welding by a pipe welder.
• Secure pipes to structures with clamps, brackets, and hangers.
