Job summary

Tetra Tech Digital Systems in New Iberia, LA, seeks a Panel Technician to assemble and test industrial control panels for critical infrastructure, oil and gas, and utilities. You will work in a manufacturing setting, wiring from schematics, mounting PLCs/HMIs, and ensuring safety and quality throughout the build process.

Based in New Iberia, you will maintain organization, conduct testing, and assist with documentation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years in electrical assembly, panel fabrication, automation, or related technical field.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
• Basic knowledge of industrial electrical systems, components, and assembly practices.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work independently while contributing within a team.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, layout, and fabricate industrial control panels, junction boxes, RTU/SCADA panels, MCC interfaces, operator interface stations, and instrumentation assemblies.
• Read, interpret, and execute work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and engineering drawings.
• Perform point-to-point wiring, cable routing, wire termination, and component installation.
• Install and mount PLCs, HMIs, relays, terminal blocks, circuit breakers, power supplies, instrumentation, and other control system components.
• Modify enclosures and back panels through drilling, cutting, and component preparation.
• Ensure proper wire management, labeling, identification, and panel organization per standards.
• Conduct continuity checks, inspections, and basic functional testing of assemblies.
• Identify discrepancies involving drawings, materials, designs, or specifications.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with safety policies.
• Assist with material handling, staging, and project documentation as required.
• Prepare completed panels for quality inspections, testing, packaging, and shipment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, and workplace safety.
