Job summary

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Industrial Painter in Fredericksburg, VA, to perform end-to-end finishing of urethane castings, 3D-printed parts, prototypes, and production components. This is a hands-on role handling the complete process from prep to final inspection.

The ideal candidate has automotive body-shop or industrial painting experience, can operate HVLP spray equipment, mix coatings, and maintain high-quality finishes in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional automotive refinishing or industrial painting experience.
• Ability to independently complete the full preparation and painting process.
• Experience with HVLP spray guns, primers, basecoats, clearcoats, and related materials.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming parts for surface defects and finishing requirements.
• Perform sanding, filling, glazing, feathering, and surface-correction work.
• Prepare parts by cleaning, degreasing, masking, and priming.
• Apply primers, sealers, basecoats, topcoats, and clearcoats with accuracy.
• Mix paints, coatings, reducers, and hardeners per manufacturer specs.
• Operate HVLP spray equipment and paint-booth systems.
• Ensure color, gloss, texture, and coverage meet specs.
• Perform color matching, blending, and touch-up.
• Adjust methods for urethane castings, plastics, and other materials.
• Complete work per drawings and production schedules.
• Inspect and correct finish defects and maintain equipment.
