Position: Industrial Painter (2nd Shift)
Shift: Monday – Thursday from 1:30p – 12:00am Fri-Sun off. (Training on 1st Shift)

Job Summary:
Perform a normal range of metal preparation, mask, prime and finish painting operations on a wide variety of parts, weldments, subassemblies and assembled company products.


Responsibilities:

  1. Move parts, subassemblies or completed machines in and out of spray booth or cleaning station using hoist, overhead bridge crane or powered lift truck, as appropriate.
  2. Set up painting equipment, adjust spray guns, clean, as required. Fill paint tanks, add thinner and clean, sand tape and mask, all parts or completed machines for small blast and paint in accordance with established procedures.
  3. Spray paint prime and finish coat as required. Apply prescribed protective coating as specified. Perform touch-up painting and cleaning in accordance with Inspection report. Apply decals or stencil in accordance with requirements.
  4. Detect and report faulty operation, defective material and equipment, drawing discrepancies and other unusual conditions and report to proper Supervisor. Produce work within acceptable quality and quantity standards.
  5. Maintain work area in neat and orderly condition. Record time and production into the data collection system, using bar code reader or computer terminal. Perform other similar or related duties as assigned in accordance with workload priorities.
  6. Receive direction from supervision. Work from instructions and established procedures and specifications.
  7. Follow all safety rules and regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. At least 2+ (two) or more years of industrial painting experience and/or training.
  2. At least 2+ (two) or more years of experience calculating liquid and powder measurements for proper mixing of paint, primer, cleaning solutions, etc.

Core Competencies:

  1. Skilled in operating a variety of painting and surface preparation equipment, including paint spraying units, paint booths, sanders, grinders, powered lift trucks, man lifts, and hand tools such as scrapers and wire brushes. Familiar with materials such as solvents, grease, oil, steel wool, paint, and masking supplies.
  2. Effective communication skills, with the ability to understand and convey information both verbally and in writing. Capable of reading and accurately following written instructions.
  3. Demonstrated problem-solving ability, applying common sense to carry out detailed but straightforward instructions and handle routine tasks involving limited variables in standardized situations.
