Position Summary
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces and applying industrial coatings to metal components in accordance with specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role ensures coated products meet appearance, durability, and performance expectations through proper surface preparation, coating application, and equipment operation.
This position is well suited to an experienced painting professional with strong technical skills and attention to detail. The Industrial Painter works collaboratively with production and quality teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality finishes while maintaining a safe and organized work environment, supporting Universal Fabricating’s commitment to excellence in manufacturing.
Key responsibilities
- Set up and operate blast pot and nozzle equipment.
- Sandblast surfaces and remove rust as necessary to ensure proper adhesion of coatings.
- Mix and apply paint, powdering coating, or other protective finished as required.
- Use a brush to coat areas that require detailed application.
- Blow sand off parts before painting to ensure a clean surface.
- Apply 3.5 mils of powder coating according to specifications.
- Clean and maintain painting equipment to ensure consistent quality and performance.
- Monitor and notify the manager of inventory needs for paint, coating, and related supplies.
- Follow all the safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe working enviroment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Qualifications
- Industrial painting or sandblasting experience preferred.
- Bilingual communication is a plus (English and Spanish).
- Physical stamina.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
