Job summary

Alamo Industrial is seeking an industrious paint technician to prepare parts for powder coat painting, hang and secure parts on the conveyor system, and apply specified coatings. You will inspect finished parts for quality and help maintain the paint booth and equipment.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED with 1 year of paint experience, preferably in powder coat/electrostatic spray, and be able to operate a forklift.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1 year paint experience preferred, especially powder coat and electrostatic spray.
  • Must know how to operate forklift.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare parts for paint process and apply masking tape.
  • Hang and secure parts on painting conveyor system.
  • Install powder coat parts and operate applicator to apply paint.
  • Inspect parts to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Meet painting needs from all assembly departments.
  • Clean and maintain paint booth and equipment.
  • Transport heavy materials using dollies and forklifts.

Job description

Under minimal supervision hangs and removes parts using paint line monorail. Moves, selects, organizes, and prepares parts before and after the paint process. Fastens and secures parts to ensure that they are safely processed through the paint process. Powder coat paints manufactured parts in accordance to designated paint specifications. Organizes and maintain all parts in their correct designated area before and after painting process. Operates heavy machinery for the purpose of safely transporting product to and from the paint area.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Prepares parts for paint process (apply masking tape and clean paint surface)
  • Hang and fasten parts into the painting conveyer system
  • Installs specified powder coat parts and operates applicator onto work surface to apply paint.
  • Inspects parts to ensure finished product meets quality specifications
  • Meet painting needs from all assembly departments
  • Clean and maintain paint booth and equipment
  • Maintain good housekeeping and a safe work area
  • Transport heavy materials through the use of Dollies, Forklifts, and other equipment

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Knowledge of paint characteristics (application and drying time)
  • Must be able to read and use paint tools (sander, scraper, tape, etc)
  • Basic math and reading skills needed
  • Must be able to operate paint applicator as well as other hand and power tools
  • Must have good clear acuity
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • One (1) year paint experience (prefer powder coat and electro static spray gun)
  • Must know how to operate forklift

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 35 pounds alone and greater than 35 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8+ hours) as required by tasks being completed.
  • Ability to wear appropriate PPE, including hearing/eye protection, gloves and safety shoes.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed to complete job assignments.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing plant environment.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to tolerate heights.
  • Frequent walking, bending, stooping, reaching and climbing as required by tasks being completed.
  • Must be physically capable of wearing a pressure demand respirator.
