Job summary

Opti Staffing in Salem, OR is seeking an Industrial Paint Lead to apply protective coatings to industrial equipment and assemblies, ensuring quality and timely production. This role requires hands-on work with spray equipment, surface prep, and paint systems, plus a commitment to safety and efficiency.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of industrial painting experience in manufacturing, can operate forklifts and assist with crane movements, and is comfortable performing preventative maintenance

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience painting industrial machinery (not structural, residential, or commercial).
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation and industrial coating applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and paint industrial equipment, support structures, and small components.
  • Mix paint and epoxy systems according to specifications.
  • Apply coatings to achieve an even finish free of runs, sags, or voids.
  • Complete jobs on schedule while maintaining workflow in the paint area.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on paint equipment and keep area clean and organized.
  • Move large assemblies using a forklift and assist with crane movements as needed.

OPTI STAFFING IS HIRING! Salem, OR Pay: $25–$29+/hr DOE Schedule: Mon–Fri, 5:30am–2:00pm

Position Overview

The Industrial Paint Lead applies protective coatings—such as enamel and epoxy—to manufactured products using spray equipment, while supporting paint operations and ensuring all work meets company specifications, quality standards, and production timelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and paint industrial equipment, support structures, and small components
  • Mix paint and epoxy systems according to specifications
  • Apply coatings to achieve an even finish free of runs, sags, or voids
  • Complete jobs on schedule while maintaining consistent workflow through the paint area
  • Perform preventative maintenance on paint equipment and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Work overtime as required, including short-notice scheduling
  • Move large assemblies using a forklift (must be able to become certified on company equipment)
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Preferred Experience & Qualifications
  • 3–5 years of industrial painting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have experience painting industrial machinery, NOT STRUCTURAL, RESIDENTIAL, or COMMERCIAL
  • Strong knowledge of surface preparation and industrial coating applications
  • Ability to properly maintain and troubleshoot spray equipment
  • Experience operating forklifts; knowledge of rigging and lifting heavy equipment in tight spaces
  • Ability to operate overhead and jib cranes (preferred)
  • Experience applying a variety of coatings, including two-part epoxy systems
  • Knowledge of different types of industrial paints and their applications
  • Ability to maintain, clean, and repair paint equipment, including guns and hoses
  • Basic math skills for mixing paint to correct ratios
  • Basic computer skills for time entry and documentation
  • Quality-conscious with a strong attention to detail and continuous improvement mindset
