This employee must demonstrate core skills, including understanding company safety policies, adherence to the OTC Principles of Conduct and Action guidelines, 5-S requirements, sustaining the process, and general housekeeping. The employee must understand and follow verbal and written instructions. The normal operating duties are listed below and may change depending on circumstances or as assigned by supervision for operational success.
What You'll Do
- Clean and paint interior or exterior surfaces, structures, and production equipment. Read work orders and receive instructions from supervisor or manager regarding painting activities and perform them safely and efficiently.
- Prepare surfaces using sandpaper, wire brushes, paint remover, hand washing, or other suitable methods. Repair surfaces with caulking, putty, or similar materials to ensure proper painting conditions.
- Select appropriate materials and application methods. Activities include removing fixtures when necessary, spreading drop cloths, masking surfaces, and performing minor repairs like foam insulation.
- Erect ladders and use aerial lift platforms safely to perform above-ground painting tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and equipment; perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain technical equipment such as paint guns and sanders to ensure proper operation.
- Handle a variety of painting tools, remove previous paint surfaces, and perform touch-ups.
- Operate heavy machinery requiring stamina and physical strength.
- Paint and stripe lines on cement and industrial equipment, and clean surfaces prior to painting.
- Safely dispose of chemical waste and ensure safety standards are met.
- Utilize different painting techniques based on surface type and use PPE as required.
- Use viscosity cups and thickness gauges to measure paint texture and amount.
- Ensure proper ventilation after painting.
- Possess experience painting various surface types.
- Fill in for absent colleagues as needed.
What You'll Need
- High school diploma or GED, with 2-3 years' industrial painting experience, and knowledge of continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, problem-solve, and prioritize tasks.
- Willingness to obtain additional training.
- Ability to solve problems professionally and remain calm under stress.
- Ability to process requisitions, lift 50 lbs., climb ladders safely, and operate machinery.
- Attention to detail, good organizational and communication skills, and ability to work independently or in a team.
