Job summary

Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC in Grain Valley, MO invites energetic students to join our Summer Intern program within the Industrial Operations group. The intern will support critical safety, compliance, and project-management initiatives across Grain Valley and Warrensburg sites, gaining hands-on exposure to safety systems, data management, and construction oversight.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering, Industrial Tech or a related field.
• Ability to work independently, identifying improvement opportunities or discrepancies.
• Effective communication skills, with an ability to tailor approach to different groups.
• Strong organizational, time management and data management skills.
• Ability to travel between Grain Valley and Warrensburg sites as needed.
• Comfort working around industrial equipment and learning applicable safety principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office / 365 tools (Excel, Word, SharePoint, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Verify Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for accuracy and completeness.
• Review current LOTO procedures and conduct field verification of equipment configurations.
• Recommend and implement updates to improve safety and clarity of procedures.
• Streamline site equipment directories for usability and accuracy.
• Day-to-day project management for the Warrensburg 605 Building remodel, including schedules and coordination.
• Assist with VPP and OSHA compliance activities and site readiness.
• Value stream mapping at SMT production line to identify wastes and bottlenecks and document current vs future state.
