Job summary

Planet Group in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a Network Security Engineer to validate the security, reliability, and performance of industrial networking solutions. You will design and execute test strategies for Ethernet networks and identify vulnerabilities across IT/OT environments.

Collaborating with software teams and subject matter experts, you will develop automated tests, document findings, and help strengthen Rockwell Automation portfolio security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Computer Science.
• At least three years of professional experience in software testing, software development, or a related technical field.
• Strong understanding of computer networking fundamentals, network architectures, and communication protocols.
• Hands-on experience designing, implementing, configuring, and troubleshooting network infrastructures.
• Advanced technical expertise in complex networking solutions, IT/OT convergence.
• Experience testing Ethernet networks and designing network test environments.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as STP, VLANs, DTP, VTP, IGMP, RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, ACLs, MRP.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, security testing protocols, vulnerability assessment, and PSIRT processes.
• Experience with Cisco IE switches, Rockwell Stratix switches, and network routers.
• Automation testing frameworks and test execution processes.

Responsibilities

• Participate in team planning and status meetings to establish priorities and deliverables.
• Perform functional testing using security tools to identify vulnerabilities (white-box, grey-box, black-box).
• Analyze complex technical issues, document defects and test findings, and support troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with engineers to investigate, analyze, and resolve defects and vulnerabilities.
• Develop and maintain test cases, scripts, and reusable test assets.
• Contribute to automated testing strategies and frameworks.
• Apply testing methodologies to achieve comprehensive coverage.
• Record, summarize, and communicate test results to stakeholders.
