CHEP Services, LLC is hiring Nail Maintenance Operators to repair pallets in Temple, TX. You will remove nails, replace boards, and add missing pieces with hand tools and a pneumatic nail gun. This role emphasizes safety, quality, and adherence to repair guidelines.

We offer a first shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, at $20/hour with weekly direct deposit. Prior manufacturing or assembly experience is a plus, and PPE is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Familiarity with hand and production tools such as pneumatic nail guns and related equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Nail Removal: identify and remove damaged nails from pallets using appropriate tools.
• Board Replacement: evaluate pallets, replace damaged boards, ensure alignment and structural integrity.
• Adding Missing Pieces: locate missing parts and attach with hand tools to restore pallet function.
• Safety and Compliance: follow safety protocols, wear PPE, report hazards to supervisors.
• Quality Assurance: inspect repaired pallets for quality and safety; report deviations.

Job Description Key Responsibilities May Include:

• Nail Removal: Identify and remove damaged or protruding nails from pallets using appropriate tools.
• Board Replacement Evaluate pallets to identify boards that are damaged, broken, or compromised. Replace defective boards with new ones, ensuring proper alignment and structural integrity.
• Adding Missing Pieces Identify and address any missing or loose pieces on pallets. Use hand tools such as a pneumatic nail gun, hammer, etc. to attach or replace missing components to restore pallet functionality.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when handling and transporting lumber. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors immediately.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections to ensure repaired pallets meet quality and safety standards. Report any issues or deviations from repair guidelines to supervisors.

Position Purpose

As a Maintenance-Only Repair Operator, you will be responsible for the efficient execution of minor repairs on pallets, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards. The primary focus will be on tasks such as nail removal, board replacement, and adding missing pieces to extend the lifespan and functionality of pallets. This role requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established repair guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of hand and production tools such as pneumatic nail gun, or other relevant tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Physical Requirements

• Utilize nail gun frequently – approximately 35lbs.
• Drags/Pulls pallets frequently – up to 75lbs.
• Previous experience in a production support or materials handling role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced and dynamic production environment.
• Basic understanding of quality control procedures.
