Job summary

Cyient in Irvine, CA is seeking a Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to support SME in sizing, design, and testing of high-speed electric motors (up to 70,000 rpm) used in fans, pumps and compressors.

Responsibilities include performing electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analyses with FEA/CFD, creating detailed CAD models and drawings, and developing motor performance specs and validation plans; you will participate in extensive performance testing and drive efficiency improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electromagnetic theory and motor design principles.
  • Understanding of winding techniques, lamination stacks, magnets, and insulation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support SME in sizing, design, and testing of electric motors up to 70,000 rpm.

Job description

  • Supports the department’s Subject Mater Expert (SME) in the sizing, design, mechanical drawings and testing of electric motors operating at speeds up to 70,000 rpm used in our fans, pumps and compressors.
  • Performs electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical analysis using simulation tools (FEA/CFD).
  • Creates detailed CAD models, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Develops motor performance specifications and validation test plans. Conducts performance testing (efficiency, torque, speed, thermal, vibration, noise).
