Job summary

MOR PPM, Inc. in Hopewell, VA is seeking a Millwright to install and maintain machinery in industrial settings. The role requires reading blueprints and schematics, assembling and testing equipment, and ensuring accuracy in layouts and alignments.

You will perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, operate forklifts when needed, and work safely in a high-demand industrial environment. Candidates with related vocational training or 4 years’ experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 4 years work experience as an industrial millwright or has completed a curriculum closely related to Millwright work from a vocational institution with 2 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Assemble and install machines then testing them to make sure they are working correctly
• Must work in full compliance with the approved safety regulations
• Managing the layout and placement of equipment and machinery in factory settings to ensure minimum downtime
• Identifying and repairing problematic parts of a machine by running tests, making temporary repairs, or installing new parts
• Dismantling older machines and replacing them with new ones
• Overseeing preventive maintenance by identifying and correcting potential issues, removing worn out pieces and lubricating mechanical parts
• Using machinery or equipment, such as forklifts, to move mechanical parts
• Assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines and blowers; aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment method; assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures; may operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications; may repair and lubricate machines and equipment; may be involved in the grouting activity for equipment base plates.
• Performs any other duties assigned by supervisor
• Performs all work in a safe and efficient manner and keeps work area in a clean and orderly condition.
