Job summary

Turner Industries is seeking an experienced Millwright for a maintenance position in Port Allen, LA. The Millwright installs and maintains machinery according to blueprints and written instructions on industrial sites, reporting to the Foreman.

Essential qualifications include a high school diploma and 1–4 years of experience; NCCER certification may be required; post-offer drug/alcohol screening and safety compliance are mandatory.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
• Some job sites may require NCCER certification
• Post offer drug / alcohol screen, physical evaluation, and signed acceptance of the Turner Industries Drug, Alcohol and Contraband Policy
• Comply with company and client job site safety requirements
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures; dismantles machines; moves machinery and equipment; assembles and installs equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines and blowers; aligns machines and equipment using reverse alignment method; assembles machines and bolts, welds, rivets or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures; may operate engine lathe to grind, file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications; may repair and lubricate machines and equipment; may be involved in the grouting activity for equipment base plates; remove plant equipment, disassemble, repair and reinstall; perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
