Job summary

Comfort Systems USA is seeking a Mechanic to support mechanical service and retrofit work on active job sites, including sheet metal modifications, piping tasks, gasket and valve work, and flange installations. Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in mechanical service, piping, HVAC/mechanical, plumbing, or industrial maintenance.
• Flanges, gaskets, valves, and mechanical connections knowledge.
• Proper use of torque tools.
• Knowledge of jobsite safety practices and hazard awareness.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work safely in active job environments.
• Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform sheet metal modification and installation to support mechanical equipment, ducting interfaces, and field-fit needs.
• Remove and replace pipe gaskets; prepare flange faces, align flanges, and verify proper fit-up and sealing surfaces.
• Complete chiller valve replacements (isolation support, removal/replacement, reassembly, and operational checks per job requirements).
• Install flanged pipe couplings and hardware; torque to specification using appropriate tools and documented torque requirements.
• Execute LOTO: identify energy sources, isolate equipment, apply lockout/tagout devices, and verify zero-energy state per procedure.
• Read and work from job documentation (drawings, specs, work orders) to complete tasks correctly the first time.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area; use PPE; follow all safety policies and jobsite rules.
• Communicate job status, material needs, and field issues to the supervisor/foreman; document completed work as required.
• Use and maintain tools and equipment properly, including torque wrenches and standard mechanical hand/power tools.
• Support troubleshooting and basic mechanical service tasks within your skillset; escalte issues when needed.
