Job summary

Axalta in Front Royal, VA is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join the Site Engineering Team. You will design piping systems, equipment layouts, and minor structures for industrial processes, and produce documentation in AutoCAD throughout the project lifecycle.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical design, proficiency with AutoCAD (Vault preferred), and a strong eye for accuracy plus field-verification and collaboration with engineers, maintenance, and operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s in mechanical engineering preferred.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience in piping, machinery, or structural systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD Vault and point-cloud data is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design process equipment and systems including piping, fixed and rotating equipment, and supports.
• Produce drawings in AutoCAD and maintain project documentation through lifecycle.
• Create GA drawings, P&IDs, equipment drawings, and piping isometrics.
• Serve as document control contact for Front Royal site drawings.
• Assist with selection of pipe fittings, supports, equipment, and structural elements.
• Support design reviews, field walkdowns, and RFIs.
