Job summary

Fuel Tech, Inc. is seeking a CAD Mechanical Designer to create and modify drawings and develop 2D/3D models for process systems under supervision. The role emphasizes piping and equipment layout, skidded equipment design, and P&IDs for industries like oil and gas, chemicals, and power.

You will work with engineers, architects, and clients to ensure designs meet specifications and safety codes, and you may visit client sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a four-year technical degree (BS in mechanical engineering preferred).
• Minimum of 2 years of demonstrated design experience with increasing responsibilities.
• Familiarity with power, chemical, or oil and gas projects.
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of OnShape and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Create and revise engineering deliverables using AutoCAD and other CAD packages (P&IDs, GA drawings, fabrication drawings, 2D/3D models, electrical layouts).
• Interpret project info and meeting minutes to ensure completeness and specs alignment.
• Manage deliverables to meet scope and schedule, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Communicate with engineers, project managers, and designers to match contract requirements.
• Collaborate across sales, marketing, process engineers, and field teams to support pre-contract or contract work.
• Explore innovative design methods, materials, and layouts per client specs.
• Contribute to a design data library and standards with vendors and internal engineers.
