Job summary

Pacific Coast Producers is seeking an Industrial Mechanic Apprentice for our Oroville, CA Production Facility. You will maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of equipment in a fast-paced food processing environment.

This full-time, on-site role requires occasional weekend and overtime hours and offers competitive pay of $30.85 per hour along with benefits under the CBA contract.

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a related educational certificate, program or degree; or comparable work experience.
• 3–5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic preferred, in food processing or manufacturing.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to read sketches, prints and instructions.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, maintain, and overhaul equipment and piping systems.
• Determine root causes by observing mechanical systems and testing equipment.
• Read sketches, prints and operating instructions and proceed accordingly.
• Lay out and work from blueprints and diagrams; assemble parts to construct machinery.
• Locate, line up, anchor, test, and time machinery; weld (including stainless) as needed.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and rebuild hydraulic motors/pumps.
• Occasionally operate machines; handle miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Job description

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic Apprentice to join its team at its Production Facility in Oroville, CA. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America.

Our Oroville facility produces pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and employs 169 full-time workers year-round and a seasonal work force of over 1,200. The Industrial Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of industrial equipment in our production facility.

Pay Range: $30.85 per hour

This full-time, on-site role is based at our Oroville, CA Production Facility and requires occasional weekend and overtime hours as needed. As part of a seniority-based collective bargaining unit, this position requires flexibility for various shifts.

Primary Job Duties Would Include

• Build, install, maintain, and overhaul all equipment, including pipe systems and all machinery.
• Determine issues by observing mechanical systems and testing and measuring equipment to determine root cause of issue(s).
• Read sketches, prints, operating instructions and proceed accordingly.
• Check materials and parts and make requisitions.
• Lay out and work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, drawings, etc.
• Cut and form parts and assemble parts to construct machinery and equipment.
• Locate, line up and anchor machinery.
• Test and time machinery.
• Weld, including heliarc and stainless steel.
• May occasionally operate machines.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and rebuild hydraulic motors and/or pumps as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a related educational certificate, program or degree; and/or comparable work experience, plus formal training in this area; and a fundamental mechanical aptitude, which may be assessed by a practical exam.
• At least 3-5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
• Utilize communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers.
• Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.
• Demonstrated proficiency in several of the following skills: welding, lift truck mechanics, plumbing/pipefitting, heating/air conditioning systems, boiler care and maintenance, instrument repair, machine adjustment and repair, and carpentry.
• Able to work overtime and weekends as required
