Job summary

Pacific Coast Producers, a farmer-owned cooperative, seeks an experienced Industrial Mechanic Apprentice for our Oroville, CA facility. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing diverse industrial equipment, with opportunities for overtime and weekend shifts.

The position requires welding, hydraulic troubleshooting, and familiarity with plumbing, HVAC, and boiler systems. A related certificate or comparable experience is preferred; CBA context applies.

Qualifications

• Completion of a related educational certificate, program or degree and/or comparable work experience with formal training.
• 3–5 years of industrial mechanic experience, preferably in food processing or manufacturing.
• Good communication with colleagues and internal customers.
• Reliable with excellent attendance.
• Proficiency in welding, lift trucks, plumbing/pipefitting, HVAC, boiler care, instrument repair, machine adjustment and repair, and carpentry.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required.

Responsibilities

• Build, install, maintain, and overhaul equipment, including pipe systems and machinery.
• Determine issues by observing mechanical systems and testing equipment to identify root causes.
• Read sketches, prints, and operating instructions and follow accordingly.
• Check materials and parts and submit requisitions.
• Lay out and work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, or drawings.
• Cut and form parts and assemble to construct machinery and equipment.
• Locate, line up, and anchor machinery.
• Test and time machinery; weld including heliarc and stainless steel.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic systems and rebuild hydraulic motors/pumps as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Pacific Coast Producers (PCP), a growing agricultural cooperative with food production facilities across the West Coast, is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic Apprentice to join its team at its Production Facility in Oroville, CA. PCP is dedicated to investing in its people and fostering a culture of service, where each employee can do their best to make affordable, high-quality food for customers across North America.

Our Oroville facility produces pears, peaches, fruit cocktails, and employs 169 full-time workers year‑round and a seasonal work force of over 1,200. The Industrial Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of industrial equipment in our production facility.

Pay Range: $30.85 per hour

This full-time, on‑site role is based at our Oroville, CA Production Facility and requires occasional weekend and overtime hours as needed. As part of a seniority-based collective bargaining unit, this position requires flexibility for various shifts.

Primary Job Duties Would Include

• Build, install, maintain, and overhaul all equipment, including pipe systems and all machinery.
• Determine issues by observing mechanical systems and testing and measuring equipment to determine root cause of issue(s).
• Read sketches, prints, operating instructions and proceed accordingly.
• Check materials and parts and make requisitions.
• Lay out and work from blueprints, diagrams, sketches, drawings, etc.
• Cut and form parts and assemble parts to construct machinery and equipment.
• Locate, line up and anchor machinery.
• Test and time machinery.
• Weld, including heliarc and stainless steel.
• May occasionally operate machines.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and rebuild hydraulic motors and/or pumps as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a related educational certificate, program or degree; and/or comparable work experience, plus formal training in this area; and a fundamental mechanical aptitude, which may be assessed by a practical exam.
• At least 3-5 years of experience as an industrial mechanic, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment.
• Utilize communication skills to interact with colleagues and internal customers.
• Reliable and able to maintain excellent attendance.
• Demonstrated proficiency in several of the following skills: welding, lift truck mechanics, plumbing/pipefitting, heating/air conditioning systems, boiler care and maintenance, instrument repair, machine adjustment and repair, and carpentry.
• Able to work overtime and weekends as required
