Job summary

Silgan Containers in Hammond, IN is seeking an Industrial Mechanic to maintain and optimize high-speed can lines. You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and ensure product quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 2-year Trade School preferred.
• 5+ years of mechanical manufacturing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools.
• Willingness to operate and maintain Silgan's can lines by performing and documenting quality checks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimize mechanical systems on high-speed can line equipment; troubleshoot, repair, and improve components to minimize downtime.
• Operate manufacturing machinery; run and maintain can line equipment with proper adjustments.
• Ensure precision and accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and gauges within tight tolerances.
• Monitor production flow; track product quality and line efficiency; identify and resolve issues to prevent disruptions.
• Diagnose mechanical and quality-related problems and apply hands-on solutions to improve equipment reliability.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting safety, productivity, quality, and cost-efficiency ideas.
