INDUSTRIAL MEAT CUTTER - BROOKS, ALBERTA

Department: Fabrication Operations

Location: Brooks, AB

Our facilities include a main processing plant in Brooks, Alberta, where about 4,200 cattle are processed daily; the Head Office and a case-ready plant in Calgary, Alberta; and JBS Ontario in Belleville, Ontario. Our Brooks facility produces a range of products including boxed beef primal, ground beef, trimmings, by-products, and hides, shipped across Canada and internationally. Our Calgary facility specializes in value-added products, and our Ontario location provides fresh meat and seafood products.

Responsibilities:

• Cut beef or carcass quarters into primal cuts for further processing or packaging.
• Debone meat and cut it into specific cuts for institutional, commercial, or wholesale use.
• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, and mesh safety gear.
• Work in various environments including wet, humid, cold, hot, indoors, and outdoors.
• Handle animal blood and various animal parts during processing.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a program in industrial meat cutting or 1-2 years of experience as an industrial butcher or trimmer.
• Basic English skills.

Work Conditions & Capabilities:

Repetitive tasks, handling heavy loads, physically demanding work, manual dexterity, attention to detail, hand-eye coordination, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling. Equipment used includes knives, saws, and power cutting tools.

Work Environment:

Noisy, with odors, hot and cold/refrigerated conditions.

Note: Applicants may be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Employment offers are conditional upon passing these tests.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting wages of $22.85 - $29.20 per hour, 40 hours per week, as per collective agreement. This is a permanent, full-time position with shifts.
