Job summary

Stewart Companies is seeking an Industrial Mason / Construction Craftsperson to perform masonry work and a broad range of hands-on industrial construction tasks in active industrial environments. The role supports new construction, repairs, renovations, shutdowns, and maintenance.

Essential duties include laying and finishing masonry, reading drawings, safe tool use, and coordinating with supervisors and other trades.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior masonry experience required; industrial or commercial construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license may be required based on assignment.
• OSHA 10, forklift, aerial lift, scaffold, or other relevant certifications preferred; company/site may provide training.

Responsibilities

• Lay, align, and finish masonry materials per plans and directions.
• Mix and apply mortar and grout; install reinforcing steel and related components.
• Perform demolition, patching, tuckpointing, and repairs of surfaces.
• Build and strip forms; place concrete for pads, curbs, slabs and foundations.
• Assist with other trades and general construction activities as needed.
• Read drawings and measurements; verify dimensions in the field.
• Maintain tools and work areas in safe, organized condition.
• Coordinate with supervisors and trades to complete work safely.

Job description

The Industrial Mason / Construction Craftsperson performs masonry work and a broad range of hands-on industrial construction tasks. This position supports new construction, repairs, renovations, shutdowns, and maintenance work in active industrial environments. Masonry is a core responsibility, but the employee will also assist other trades and perform general construction duties based on project needs.

Essential Functions

• Lay, align, and finish concrete block, brick, and related masonry materials in accordance with plans, specifications, and field direction.
• Mix and apply mortar and grout; install reinforcing steel, anchors, embeds, flashing and related masonry components.
• Perform demolition, saw cutting, chipping, patching, tuckpointing and repair of existing masonry and concrete surfaces.
• Build and strip basic forms; place, consolidate and finish concrete for pads, curbs, housekeeping slabs and equipment foundations.
• Assist with structural, mechanical and general industrial construction activities, including material handling, layout, rigging support, equipment setting and installation of miscellaneous components.
• Operate hand and power tools and, when trained and authorized, construction equipment such as forklifts, aerial lifts and telehandlers.
• Read and interpret drawings, specifications, measurements and work instructions; verify dimensions and elevations in the field.
• Erect, use and dismantle scaffolds and work platforms when properly trained and authorized.
• Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in clean, organized and safe condition.
• Follow company, site and customer safety requirements, including use of required personal protective equipment, permits and lockout/tagout procedures as applicable.
• Coordinate with supervisors, craftworkers, subcontractors and customer representatives to complete work safely and efficiently.
• Perform other industrial construction and maintenance duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of masonry materials, tools, layout methods, and installation practices.
• General knowledge of industrial construction methods and a willingness to perform work outside the masonry trade.
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment appropriate to assigned work.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic construction math; ability to read drawings is preferred.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
• Strong attention to quality, productivity, and jobsite safety.
• Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the flexibility to respond to changing project priorities.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior masonry experience required; industrial or commercial construction experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required based on assignment.
• OSHA 10, forklift, aerial lift, scaffold, or other relevant certifications preferred; the company or site may provide training as needed.
