Job summary

DeKalb County Government seeks an Industrial Technician Maintenance to repair and maintain water and wastewater facility equipment. The role involves troubleshooting, fabricating repair parts, welding, and operating metalworking tools while ensuring safety and quality controls.

You will gather data from SCADA systems, generate reports, and work under supervision with the Industrial Tech. Maintenance staff to support daily operations and preventive maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Three years of experience in construction, maintenance, electrical, electronics, process control wastewater monitoring, and/or compliance activities.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assists the Industrial Technician Maintenance staff in daily work schedule; attends pre-construction meetings and recommends changes.
• Troubleshoots problems and recommends corrective actions based on skilled knowledge of mechanical repair practices.
• Fabricates and machines repair parts for equipment; welds steel, brass and aluminum; operates lathes, mill/drill presses, welders and various other metal working tools.
• Monitors, reviews and validates work practices for quality control and safety standards.
• Inputs data from SCADA and runs reports as necessary.

Salary Range: $19.00/hour - $29.93/Hour Salary Grade: 10 FLSA: Nonexempt

Purpose Of Classification

The purpose of this classification is to perform maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment located within a water, wastewater, pump & lift stations and treatment facilities working under direct supervision of the Industrial Tech. Maintenance staff.

Essential Functions

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Assists the Industrial Technician Maintenance staff in their daily work schedule which may include the following: attends pre-construction meetings, and recommends changes in water/wastewater facilities mechanical systems; troubleshoots problems and recommends corrective actions based on skilled knowledge of mechanical repair practices; and performs preventative maintenance and corrective repair work on water/wastewater facilities and equipment.

Assists the Industrial Technician Maintenance staff with the following: fabricates and machines repair parts for equipment; welds steel, brass and aluminum; operates lathes, mill/drill presses, welders and various other metal working power and hand tools; and locates leaks and detects defects in water/wastewater equipment and machinery according to established plans and standards.

Monitors, reviews and validates work practices for quality control of processes and to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Inputs and gathers data from Supervisory Control Data Acquisition system (SCADA) and runs reports as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED; three years of experience in construction, maintenance, electrical, electronics, process control wastewater monitoring, and/or compliance activities; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
