Job summary

Dessert Holdings is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our 3rd shift manufacturing operations in Humble, TX. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance experience, with demonstrated expertise in PLC troubleshooting, 480V electrical systems, VFDs, motors, sensors, automation, and production equipment.

Industrial Maintenance Technician
Night Shift (8pm - 4am) +Night Shift Differential
THE POSITION

Dessert Holdings is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician to support our 3rd shift manufacturing operations in Humble, TX. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to maximize equipment reliability and minimize unplanned downtime. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on industrial electrical and mechanical maintenance experience, with demonstrated expertise in PLC troubleshooting, 480V electrical systems, VFDs, motors, sensors, automation, and production equipment. This position is also responsible for understanding and following applicable Quality Management Systems, including SQF, HACCP, and GMP requirements, to ensure employee safety, food safety, and product quality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform a broad range of industrial maintenance activities, including complex electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of production equipment.

  • Troubleshoot PLCs and automated control systems, including identifying faults, tracing inputs/outputs, and diagnosing equipment and process issues.
  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment up to 480 volts.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain VFDs, NPN/PNP sensors, AC/DC motors, servo motors, motor controls, and other electrical and electronic components.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and process‑control system failures.
  • Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, PLC‑related documentation, OEM drawings, and equipment manuals to support troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Complete assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities as scheduled with the goal of reducing unplanned downtime and improving equipment reliability.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for equipment and process failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and adjust production machinery and equipment.
  • Install, align, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical power‑transmission components, including gearboxes, bearings, chains, shafts, and gears.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, install, and test pneumatic systems using applicable schematics.
  • Use multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment to measure voltage, current, continuity, amperage, and resistance.
  • Use precision measurement tools, including dial calipers and micrometers, and perform measurements such as TIR/runout and flatness.
  • Safely use hoists and other equipment to rig and move machine parts and equipment.
  • Perform basic welding as needed while following appropriate safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, and other departments on equipment improvements, non‑routine repairs, and reliability initiatives.
  • Train and assist operators with basic maintenance techniques when troubleshooting or repairing equipment.
  • Document maintenance activities accurately and timely within the CMMS system.
  • Utilize CMMS records and OEM documentation to identify equipment improvements, required spare parts, and replacement components.
  • Participate as a Maintenance Lead for assigned area teams in support of Line Centric Teams.
  • Follow all company safety, food safety, SQF, HACCP, GMP, and quality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and reporting structure.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot PLCs, automated equipment, and industrial control systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems up to 480V.
  • Experience troubleshooting VFDs, NPN/PNP sensors, motors, motor controls, and electronic/process‑control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, and OEM documentation.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical power‑transmission systems.
  • Experience with industrial pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to safely disassemble, reassemble, test, and return production equipment to service following maintenance or sanitation activities.
  • Ability to use electrical diagnostic equipment and precision measurement tools.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
  • Experience documenting maintenance activities within a CMMS system.
  • Must have own tools. Required tool list will be provided, and tools must be on site within two weeks of hire.
  • Must have a flexible schedule and be willing to work overtime, including weekends, when necessary.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and Microsoft Office.
Required
  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience with a strong electrical focus, or completion of a two‑year technical degree with relevant hands‑on industrial maintenance experience.
  • Hands‑on PLC troubleshooting experience in an industrial manufacturing or automated equipment environment.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing 480V electrical systems.
  • Proven experience with VFDs and NPN/PNP sensors in complex automation and control systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical production equipment.
  • Must be able to successfully complete HACCP Certification.
  • Must have a Forklift License or be able to complete required training within 90 days of hire.
Preferred
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and mathematical skills with the ability to work effectively with coworkers, other departments, and vendors.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing or high‑speed production environment.
  • Working knowledge of ovens, bakery equipment, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
  • AIB Bakery Equipment training is helpful.
  • Experience with automated manufacturing equipment and advanced electrical/control‑system troubleshooting.
