Job summary

United States Steel Corporation's Minnesota Ore Operations at the Minntac Facility has an opening for a Maintenance Technician – Mechanical. This role supports our maintenance force and involves installing, maintaining, repairing, and operating a broad range of mechanical systems in a heavy industrial environment to keep operations running.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of manufacturing or industrial experience (including military), a High School Diploma or GED, and a willingness

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year manufacturing and/or industrial experience (including relevant experience in military service) or equivalent education.
• Experience in hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission systems, welding, pipe-fitting, structural repair, and diesel mechanics.
• High School Diploma or GED
• The position requires rotating shifts, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
• Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a broad range of mechanical systems and equipment (hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, power transmission, conveyors, cranes, mobile equipment).
• Provide assistance in operating functions as necessary.
• Work at heights and/or in confined spaces as needed.
• Work independently or with other maintenance technicians.
• Operate in various plant areas with hot, cold, dirty, greasy, wet, and noisy environments.
