Job summary

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician for 1st shift in Marion, Ohio. You will diagnose, repair, and prevent downtime on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated equipment, including PLC-controlled systems, using schematics and documentation.

Collaborating with production and engineering, you will drive equipment reliability, implement preventive maintenance, maintain records, and contribute to continuous improvement to keep the plant productive.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment or equivalent.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge: PLC and computer-controlled equipment, electrical/electronic systems, pneumatics, mechanical systems.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, diagrams, and equipment docs.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated manufacturing equipment.
• Commitment to safety and continuous learning across disciplines.

JOB DETAILS

What You'll Do:

Own Equipment Reliability and Troubleshooting

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automated manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot PC/PLC-controlled equipment, sensors, drives, and other industrial control systems.
• Use electrical schematics, technical documentation, and hands‑on diagnostic skills to identify root causes and restore equipment to operation.
• Respond to equipment issues and production downtime with a sense of urgency, helping minimize disruptions and maintain plant productivity.
• Coordinate with OEM technical support and other resources when additional expertise is needed to complete complex repairs.
• Take ownership of problems from initial diagnosis through repair, follow‑up, and prevention of future failures.

Drive Preventive and Proactive Maintenance

• Perform preventive maintenance on critical production equipment, including welders, cutting systems, conveyors, and automated assembly equipment.
• Identify early signs of wear, deterioration, and potential equipment failure before they become larger production issues.
• Help develop, improve, and execute preventive maintenance procedures and schedules.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that strengthen equipment reliability and uptime.
• Look beyond the immediate repair to identify opportunities to prevent recurring problems.

• Work closely with production, engineering, and plant leadership to resolve equipment challenges and improve operational performance.

Maintain a Safe and Organized Workplace

• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established maintenance procedures.

• Help maintain an organized, professional work environment where tools, equipment, and workspaces are kept to high standards.

Physical & Work Environment

• Stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
• Safely lift and handle materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work around operating equipment, moving machinery, and production activity.
• Work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels and temperatures may vary depending on the area of the plant and the work being performed.

This is a hands‑on, active manufacturing maintenance role, and the physical nature of the work is an important part of the job. Technicians should be prepared to:

• Stand, walk, bend, climb, and move throughout the facility for extended periods.
• Safely lift and handle materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Work around operating equipment, moving machinery, and production activity.
• Work in a manufacturing environment where noise levels and temperatures may vary depending on the area of the plant and the work being performed.

• 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, or equivalent experience in the installation, setup, and service of computer-controlled equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting knowledge in:

  • Industrial electrical and electronic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Mechanical systems and machine repair
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical diagrams, and equipment documentation.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing automated manufacturing equipment.
