Job summary

Valmont Industries in Claremore, OK is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain machinery, diagnose trouble from blueprints or sketches, and keep production equipment in top condition. You will work with hoists, pumps, conveyors, and electrical components while following strict safety procedures.

A high school diploma and at least three years of maintenance experience are required, along with reading diagrams, operating forklifts and cranes, and supporting manufacturing

• Significant electrical work experience.
• Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Safety-minded with vigilance at all times.

• Overhead crane and forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Repair and maintains machinery and equipment (hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, conveyors, etc.).
• Inspects and diagnoses equipment problems from blueprints or sketches.
• Disassembles machines and replaces broken parts.
• Performs preventive maintenance and keeps maintenance records.
• Maintains forklifts and production fixtures; assists with fabrication.
• Ensures safety procedures and clean work areas.

How you will contribute

• Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc.
• Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
• Disassembles machines and repairs and replaces broken parts.
• Uses all types of power tools and hand tools Adjustment of functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary Keeps work area clean; observes all safety procedures
• Interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructions
• Maintains all types of forklifts and keeps in operating condition
• Contributes to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racks
• Carries out preventative maintenance program for all production equipment, mechanical devices, building and land, including maintaining maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists.
• Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

What it takes

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in general maintenance
• Significant electrical work to repair or maintain company equipment.
• A working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
• The ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, welding layouts, schematics, and complex electro mechanical assembly and/or erection directions.
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times Perform and/or assist with maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
• Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g. off shifts, holidays, weekends, etc. as required/assigned.
• Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.
• The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
• The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
• Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
• Other duties as required and/or assigned.
• Highly qualified candidates will also possess: Five years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Five years of previous experience with overhead crane operations Five years of previous experience operating a forklift The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues The ability to recognize hazardous substances and to know basic employee responsibilities for chemical safety
