They should be able to disassemble, repair, and reassemble machines with minimal instructions, and carry out complex mechanical assignments regularly. In addition to this, the mechanic is responsible for supporting production by redesigning, modifying, repairing, and installing industrial machinery. They will also inspect equipment, diagnose malfunctions, and analyze equipment failures to determine the root cause, making necessary adjustments. The Industrial Maintenance Technician is expected to improve safety, maintenance techniques and operations independently, while adhering to the company's principles of safety, continuous improvement, and customer-driven innovation.Principle ResponsibilitiesVisually inspects and tests CNC machinery and equipment and performs routine, scheduled designated preventative maintenance and repairs on CNC machines and associated equipment.Discusses machine operation variations with management or production workers to diagnose equipment problems.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues affecting CNC operations.Assist with the installation, calibration, and setup of new CNC equipment and tooling.Use technical documentation to aid in troubleshootingDetermine root cause of failure and implement corrective action to prevent recurrence and reduce Mean Time To RepairReview previous failure modes to aid in root cause discoveryCoordinate with outside vendors and contractors for component cost, availability and repairRepair failures using alternative methods of repair or applicationFollow up on repairs with equipment observation and monitoringManage all phases of repair projects from origination to completionDevelop, document, and perform preventive and predictive maintenance tasks to maximize Mean Time Between FailureIdentify proper lubrication techniques and intervals for equipmentPerform alignment checks and mechanical clearances to ensure proper operationResearch, develop, and document critical spare parts for equipmentProvide guidance to management and engineering on capital equipment investmentsProvide guidance to other maintenance personnelRead and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsWrite routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groupsPerform basic mathematical operationsApply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram formWork in conjunction with outside suppliers and contractorsWork well under pressure and remain flexible to changing schedules and demandsPerform additional duties as requested by management.Qualification RequirementsCredentials/Experience:High School diploma or general education degreeDirectly related experience in industrial or manufacturing mechanic comparable role with 5+ years' experience.Driver’s License is required.Experience/Educational/Training Preferred:Journeyman’s card is desirable.Aerial Lift certification is desirableForklift operator’s desirableKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent organizational, communication, project management and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and exercise judgmentCNC machine maintenance experience preferred.Advanced knowledge of industrial machinery operation, bearings, gears, drives, sensors, and relays.Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and systems.Experience with ball screws, spindles, and CNC axis repairs.Knowledge and use of test equipment such as multi-meters.Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication and electrical drawings and schematics.Proficient mechanical and trouble shooting skills.Knowledge of preventive maintenance principles and practices.Other RequirementsWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
